This site is here for your support. It is totally voluntary and free of charge. We all need support when grieving the loss of a loved one. Especially after the initial support which we receive in the early days drops off. The phone rings less and less, and  people call to see us less frequently. Daily life and living takes over, and we feel lost and very alone....This is where Bereavementuk can be of help and support. The group offer a listening ear and friendly support and advice, with absolutely no strings. We will be here as long as you need us. If you wish I will place a dedication to your loved one in The Garden of Tranquillity for you and others to visit at  any time. This group uses Yahoo groups (formally EGroups) and is there for you to post messages for other group members to read and gain inspiration from you and your experiences. This is your journey through grief, and this is your support group  you are amongst friends.

The Guestbook seems to be quite successful, so thank you to everyone who has ever posted there. But of course you will not get responded to using this book. So I have found a very simple message board that is as easy to use as the Guestbook. Its completely free just like everything on this site.

Please post in there, it really could make all the difference to you and someone else.

Footprints

One night a man had a dream.  He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the Lord.  Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.  For each scene , he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one belonging to him, and the other to the Lord.  When the last scene of his life flashed before him,  he looked back at the footprints in the sand.  He noticed that many times along the path of his life,  that there was only one set of footprints.  He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life.  This really bothered him,  and he questioned the Lord about it.  " Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way.  But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times of my life, there is only one set of footprints.  I don't understand why,  when I needed you most you would leave me".  The Lord replied "My Son, My precious child. I Love You, and would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you".

 Abide with Me
Text: Henry F. Lyte, 1793-1847
Music: W.H. Monk, 1823-1889
Tune: EVENTIDE, Meter: 10 10.10 10
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Abide with me; fast falls the eventide;
the darkness deepens; Lord, with me abide.
When other helpers fail and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, O abide with me.

2. Swift to its close ebbs out life's little day;
earth's joys grow dim; its glories pass away;
change and decay in all around I see;
O thou who changest not, abide with me.

3. I need thy presence every passing hour.
What but thy grace can foil the tempter's power?
Who, like thyself, my guide and stay can be?
Through cloud and sunshine, Lord, abide with me.

4. I fear no foe, with thee at hand to bless;
ills have no weight, and tears not bitterness.
Where is death's sting? Where, grave, thy victory?
I triumph still, if thou abide with me.

5. Hold thou thy cross before my closing eyes;
shine through the gloom and point me to the skies.
Heaven's morning breaks, and earth's vain shadows flee;
in life, in death, O Lord, abide with me.
